As I continue read DC Comics from the 1935 - 1986 (Currently finishing up 1962) I came across Comet the Super Horse. While I remembered this character from comics I previously read, I did not realize just how powerful he is. The former Centaur named Biron has all the powers of a Kryptonian with strength greater than a humanoid Kryptonian given proportional strength of a human being to a Horse and human intelligence. He is also telepathic and can communicate through dreams and is immune to Kryptonite. This probably makes him the most powerful being on Earth 1
I know later he can sometimes become a powerless human in later stories, and he was in love with Supergirl. He has not been seen since 1970. What happened to him? There's a story out there somewhere. Did he see Supergirl's fate in one of his trips to the 30th Century as part of the Legion of Super Pets? If so, did he try to take out the Anti Monitor by himself? Did he finally realize Supergirl could never love him as he wanted her to and flew off into space alone, or fall for a wild horse? What if he came back angry and attacked the Earth.
I never cared for any of the Super Pets, but Biron intrigues me. I hope to start writing again next year after I finish reading all the published material DC properties publish until 1986. Maybe I'll do something with Comet, but probably not. But there is definitely a story there.
For future reference's sake here a list of his appearances: Action Comics Vol 1 #292 September 1962 - Action Comics Vol 1 #294 November 1962,

My pet theory (ha ha, get it?) is that after his last present-day appearance Biron ended up on Zerox the Sorcerer's Planet, which was already in existence in the 20th century as seen in a Supergirl story that featured Comet, and of course would be the planet where Mordru comes from. And he's been on Zerox ever since. There could be a story there if he ever decides to return to Earth.
In fact, it was the ruler of Zerox, Prince Endor, who granted Comet the ability to change into the centaur Biron, and then into a man, each time a comet passed through Earth's solar system.
Here's my relevant synopsis from Action Comics #301: "The Secret Identity of Super-Horse."
This is a Supergirl story. This story continues from last issue. Superman summons Supergirl and Comet to the Fortress of Solitude. There, Superman tells them of an adventure he once had many years ago, when Prince Endor of Zerox, the Sorcerers' Planet, saved Superman (this story precedes Mordru's first appearance!), since the world is under a red sun. Prince Endor instantly transported Superman back to his own solar system. In the present, Superman has witnessed on his space monitor that an unknown enemy is trying to take over Zerox from Prince Endor. Supergirl (in a space suit) and Comet fly to the Sorcerers' Planet to help Prince Endor. On Zerox, Endor's winged steed Pegasus has lost his flying power, since his nephew Lord Nomed secretly fed the horse a potion, by which he plans to ascend to the throne. After Supergirl sees several mythological animals in a parade, including a chimera, Cerberus, and a griffin, she learns from Nomed the origin of the Sorcerers' World. As Lord Nomed explains, centuries ago, the ancestors of the current inhabitants of Zerox were persecuted on Earth as witches and warlocks, so they decided to leave Earth. Using black magic, they migrated through space, taking with them the last of the fabulous mythological creatures, and settled on Zerox, where magic and sorcery are commonplace (note: other witches and warlocks instead settled in the other dimensional realm of Gemworld). Comet is rewarded by Prince Endor by the ability to change into the centaur Biron, and then into a man. The former Comet, now without super-powers, saves Supergirl from being turned into a gold statue by Nomed, who himself becomes gold. Prince Endor explains to Comet, after he has changed back into a horse, that each time a comet passes through Earth's solar system, he will turn into a man, but lose his super-powers. Comet has a comet-shaped mark on his back, beneath his cape. Supergirl and Comet return to Earth, where Comet joins a large herd of horses on a ranch outside Metropolis. That very night, a comet (unknown to the real world) passes overhead, and Comet turns into a man. He borrows some clothes from an old Luthor hideout and walks into a rodeo. There, he gets a job under the name “Bronco Bill.” Days pass as Supergirl searches for Comet. Lena Thorul uses her powers to locate Comet at the rodeo. Supergirl fails to find Comet, but she does meet Bronco Bill and saves his life. The two are named king and queen of the rodeo and kiss for the cameras. Full moon. Bronco Bill turns back into the centaur Biron, and then into Comet the Super-Horse. Supergirl finally finds Comet.

I had an idea for a story I called "the Last Stand of the Super-Pets" which would take place shortly after Comet's last appearance, and explain what happened to the Legion of Super-Pets. In the story, the Legion go on a mission together in space, and Beppo, Comet, and Streaky are all killed. Only Krypto survives, and is so broken up by the event he never speaks about them again.
It would be a backstory to another idea, where Krpyto meets a cat with superpowers, who turns out to be the son of Streaky, and tells him what happened to his father.

Interesting. Streaky does have a 30th century descendant named Whizzy who can fly and is telepathic.

Yep. I have a story idea involving Streaky too, which is a Times Past one involving him getting involved with the Space Cats Patrol Agency and more specifically, forming a relationship with Ester (aka Power Puss, a lightning caster female cat who turned out to be the first Winathian being to set foot on the asteroid Korbal and get bombarded with electrical energy, thus producing her powers*) And so, in the space of time, Kuiper the superkitten happens. And gets sent to Earth when the Space Cats Patrol Agency join the Legion of Super Pets in attacking the Anti-Monitor.
*Yup, which is why Korbal ended up on 30th Century starcharts and why Garth, Mekt and Ayla Rannz landed there, with the same results.
