So, about the 30th Century Legion of Super-Villains' Laevar Bolto and Eve Aries aka Cosmic King and Saturn Queen... when, precisely, did they meet Mekt Rannz (Lightning Lord) and form the adult phase of the Legion of Super-Villains? Given the Adult Legion timeline, which is one of many alternate Legion timelines, Bolto seems to have been an adult scientist when he joined Aries and Rannz, so that's that question settled in his context. But what about Saturn Queen? She's always seemed to be more morally ambiguous as a villain, susceptible to change. Could she eventually reform? And what led Bolto to adopt the title "Cosmic King," given that his transmutation abilities are closer to those of Element Lad and Chemical King, compared to Cosmic Boy's magnetic capabilities? Saturn Woman seemed to have already encountered her already in the Adult Legion alternate future, so that has some interesting implications.

I too have always felt that Saturn Queen might be 'morally ambiguous'. I don't know why I think this, but perhaps Saturn Girl and Saturn Queen went to university together>
It was always a mystery to me too, where Cosmic King got his name, and why his costume seemed to be patterned on Cosmic Man. Perhaps he was a Magno-ball fan. Maybe his choice of name is totally unrelated - Cosmic King is a more grandiose name than 'Element King' and it definitely trumps 'Chemical King'.

Perhaps they were rivals for the attentions of Lydda Jath (Night Girl/Woman), Rokk's long-time girlfriend? Or perhaps he's just anti-Braalian for some reason? Actually, though, Bolto's not the only one who patterned their outfit on a Legionnaire. Exactly the same is the case with Saturn Queen, who adopted Saturn Girl's original uniform as her mode of dress.

So Rokk won the girl, and Bolto moved to Venus, and brooded over his failed relationship for years... and then suddenly is accidentally granted great power and sees it as an opportunity to get back at the guy who stole his girlfriend years ago... except I am pretty sure that one of the reasons she wanted to join the Legion was her crush on Rokk. So there wasn't really any period of time when Rokk had to content with other men. Though there was a short period of time when the Substitute Legion was keeping itself a secret, perhaps she encountered Bolto then and they had a friendly relationship that he wanted to take to the next level and she wasn't interested? And he took the name Cosmic King because a Cosmic King outranks a Cosmic Man...
We really don't know much about the private life of the Subs during the time they operated in secret. Did they have jobs or go to school or were they living in their HQ full time - and where did they get funding? They had some pretty high tech gear in their HQ...

I think the question is 'secret to whom?" And I suspect that they might have been able to persuade R.J.Brande that they were conscientious and wanted to engage in crime fighting and threat management to reinforce the Legion efforts, so my guess is he probably bankrolled them too.
