I wonder if the presence of metahumans in the United States might lead to a de facto metahuman arms race?
In an Elseworlds thread, I suggested that Winston Churchill and the WW2 British Government would have found it inconvenient to have to constantly ferry the Justice Society across the Atlantic whenever it was threatened in 1940-41, and with the UBA ("Axis Amerika") in Germany (and Japan), it would have been logical for at least the United Kingdom to have their own heroic ensemble (the "Victory Legion") on their home front.
And if Britain, Germany and the United States had their own WW2 metahumans, what would have happened later during the Cold War? It's hard to believe that the USSR and Peoples Republic of China wouldn't have their own heroic metahuman contingents as a consequence of the metahuman 'density' in the United States.
What about reverse engineering alien tech? Is the Linearverse more technologically advanced than OTL? Would NASA, NATO, the Pentagon, CIA and other US/UN agencies have delved into its artillery and propulsion systems precisely to protect Earth from any future such incursion? It wouldn't make good strategic sense to rely solely on metahuman support in such instances.

I think such a 'superhuman arms race' is probably inevitable...

However, randomly experimenting with alien technology or ancient magic is more likely to produce disaster than positive effects. Therefore, governments would be relatively cautious in their experimentation, for fear of creating more menaces than heroes
Yes, the Linnearverse is MUCH more advanced than OTL, with technology approaching a Jetson's level by the 1970s

I suspect that Linearverse humanity would probably have had lunar bases for several decades and probably also started to colonise at least Mars and also the larger Jovian and Saturnian satellites. There are probably also military installations out there to insure that the next alien invasion doesn't even get close to Earth. And possibly defensive and security alliances with benign interstellar civilisations against more malignant aliens.

Off the top of my head, Superman debuts in 1934, marries Lois in 1946 and son Bud is born in 1948. In 1970, Clark is offered Editorship of the Cleveland Daily Star, so he and Lois move there, Bud gets job at the Daily Planet before corporate reshuffle makes him a news anchor. Bruce Wayne dies in 1979. Dick Grayson and Helena Kyle/Wayne (Selina claimed she was Bruce's daughter and made them adopt her, or something) say "only legends live forever" but after their deaths in 1985 BJ Wayne becomes the second Batman, leading to strain with Superman's family. Alfred Beagle is killed in 1964. In 1966, the villainous Outsider is revealed to be his cousin Alfred Pennyworth, manipulated by a mad scientist; he reforms and goes to work for the Waynes. Wonder Woman marries Steve Trevor and has Lytta in the 60s. Wonder Woman II a magic duplicate of Wonder Woman, the original Wonder Girl. Donna Troy is Wonder Girl of the Titans.
