Perhaps in some cases, these species could be the result of evolutionary adaptation to particular environments too- water worlds, mountain worlds, forest worlds, words on dimensional faultlines that permit magic or sorcery, Jewish colony worlds (insofar as Golems are concerned) or Muslim colony worlds (djinn), solar radiation or gravitational conditions that permit giantism or dwarvism, or long past pantropic genetic modification- which would be useful if flight or aquatic environmental adaptations were involved. In the case of felid aliens, perhaps in their convergent evolutionary history, they became the dominant species on their world rather than anthropoids, and radiated out to form subspecies from an original catlike ancestor. With avianoids, it might be the case that there was a smaller asteroid impact in their world's past that allowed greater avian adaptation to post-impact conditions than mammals. In the case of subterranean species, it might be the case that subterranean environments are more favourable to life than surface adaptation on some worlds. It may be all a question of context. Take the above and choose what greater setting you might want. Is it a declining, multispecies galactic empire with widespread prior genetic modification to numerous and diverse planetary environments? Is it a decaying multiversal empire where the same has happened, only spread across multiple alternate universes where alternate Earths have different natural laws (that permit magic) or environmental evolutionary histories (that permit development of creatures that we would consider mythical) or ethnic colony worlds (which might allow creatures from their ancestral mythology or legends)? The way I had imagined it would basically be the same situation for this Technological Medieval Fantasy Earth as that of the world of Eternia or the Planet Mongo of Flash Gordon, which beyond of being technologically and mystically more evolved than Earth, are also worlds inhabited by countless fantasy races more exotic than those on Earth. I don't think it's really necessary to look for rational explanations based on the theory of the evolution of species . If so many mystical fantasy races more powerful than man would exist in the world of this Technological Medieval Fantasy Earth then "why" have they not overcame and evolutionarily supplanted the humanity? The explanation is usually that why "magic is magic and cannot be explained" for why there would be so many mystical races spread across the galaxy forming stellar empires in the Universe of this Technological Medieval Fantasy Earth, beyond of course the influence of the Creator Gods of the Pantheons of each one of these magical races. Instead of a Decaying Empire, I prefer to believe in a set of prosperous Empires and Stellar Super Potences like those in Star Trek, only with the difference that they would be made up of countless different magical medieval fantasy races from countless different Earth mythologies spread across the galaxy in mystically and technologically more advanced worlds in which magic and technology are two real and complementary powers that are the source of power and the fuel that would feed the super powers of the different superheroes and supervillains, counterparts of the greatest super beings on Earth our Universe and that could even belong to these different races of medieval fantasy and technology like Killer Croc who would probably be a Lizardmen Poison Ivy who would be an Malignant Dryad Swamp Thing who would be a Half-Ent Firestorm who would be a Salamander etc and so on successively with each of Earth's superheroes and supervillains belonging to fantastic races or being humans like Batman, only humans capable of matching the most powerful creatures and being the decisive element in the victories of super groups of superheroes of fantasy and technology.

Just thought I'd mention that Flash Gordon, Ming the Merciless, and the planet Mongo all exist in the Earth-4 universe. We've seen some of Gordon's 31st century descendants so far, as well as some descendants of the planet Mongo. So if anyone has a hankering to tell a Flash Gordon story on Earth-4, you're more than welcome to do so. We don't know what old Flash has been up to since the 1960s, so a lot of things could have changed since the Charlton series he was in ended.

Nice to know that DocQuantum I simply love with all my heart the Flash Gordon series from the late Filmation producer, which was one of my favorite adventure and science fiction series from the 80s, I really think it's really cool that it belongs to the Earth-4 Universe here on DC 5 Earths Forum I would undoubtedly find it wonderful if any author produced adventures from this comic universe and its 31st century heirs. I would simply love to meet the heirs to the legacy of Dale Arden, Princess Aura, Prince Barin, Flash Gordon, Ming the Merciless, Prince Thun, Prince Vultan, Professor Hans Zarkov and see new adventures set on Planet Mongo with its fantastic races in fantasy and adventure sagas!

I was also wondering what role alien races from the DC Universe like Kryptonians, Daxamites, Czarnians, Coluans, Thanagarians, Tamaraneans, Citadelians, Gordanians, Khunds, Psions, Okaarans, Gil'Dishpans, Oans, Zamarons, Durlans, Dominators, Martians, etc. would have in the Universe of this Technological Medieval Fantasy Earth? Like would they also be worlds of magic and technology with mystically and technologically more advanced cultures that would relate to and influence the magical and technological medieval fantasy races of the Universe of this Earth of Magic and Technology and that would generate some of its greatest heroes?
