Booster touched the side of his goggles and said, "And this is where you need to take over the explanation, Coach"
Kristen was momentarily startled to see a woman dressed in a gold jacket appear in the room. Kristen's super-senses were picking up conflicting information looking at the woman. She had to limit herself to human level perception to prevent a recurrence of the headaches she'd been suffering after Luthor's attack.
"Professor Wells", the newcomer gushed, "Your accomplishments are legendary whenever one of you exists. It is truly an honor."
"Thank you, ... I think", replied Kristen, "Booster is this something that can wait. We have that Luthor thing to get back to. This really isn't a good time for a social call".
"Actually, Kristen this is the perfect time. In fact it is the only time for this visit", Booster said, "Juilie, snap out of fan-girl mode and give her the confusing stuff you gave me"
"But she is THE Kristin Wells. I feel stupid explaining this to her" Julie sputtered.
Booster sighed, "You certainly weren't this star-struck when you crashed into my office this morning."
"Yes, but first off it was you. And second, well it was ... you"
"Tell her!", Booster barked.
"Ok, ok. My name is Julia Weisinger, and while I can't tell you when I'm from I can tell you that I work for The Linear Temporal Agency. We sort of keep time on the right track. Although he doesn't remember it, Mr. Carter here, has helped ... or maybe it's will help ,,, In either event I've gotten his help a few times to make sure the things in the history happened more or less the way the book say they did."
Kristen squinted, "I thought history couldn't be changed."
Julia looked a bit startled, "But your texts on the fragility of history, Professor Wells, are the first things we read during our training. How can you of all people not understand this."
Booster nudged Julia, "Maybe she needs you to explain it to her so she can write the stuff that explained it to you. Gotta love time travel."
"Ok, I'll try summarizing the basics", Julia grumbled, "Your fellow historian, Dr. Bridwell, wrote a comprehensive history of the Third Great Heroic Age from the debut of Superboy through the MetaWar in 2114 based on evidence obtained by time travelling researchers like yourself. The problem was that several of these researchers found conflicting evidence on some events. Sometimes one researcher's first hand account of an event was contradicted by historical records obtained just months later. Other times researchers whose periods of study overlapped returned with documented evidence of the same event happening differently."
Kristen looked confused, "What?"
Julia continued, "One of the most researched events is Superboy's encounter with a gang of alien criminals in October 1963. Several time travelers report that Superboy was aided by a hero named Marsboy while others describe identical events except that the hero is Superboy's fellow Legionnaire Star Boy. Interestingly none of those sent back to observe the Martain J'onn J'onzz during his time in Middleton remember Superboy teaming up with a Marsboy."
"Marsboy?", Kristen chuckled.
"Yes, Marsboy. And that was just one example. Some discrepencies like an adult Superman encountering President Kennedy were written off as mechanical errors with the time travel equipment. A temporal physicist named Gruenwald had speculated that somehow the travellers had crossed to parallel Earths like Earth-E or Earth-2A. For about twenty five years that was the explanation used. But our agency was formed after a Coluan researcher discovered hyperchronons which composed the foxian particles that differentiate parallel worlds. Whereas the inhabitants of Earth-One and Earth-Two had differing Foxian readings, many of those who travelled back showed the same Foxian readings despite seeing different versions of history."
"I vaguely remember that Foxian stuff", Kristen stated, "It was used to locate people who slipped through the dimensional barrier in early time travel experiments. It was over my head then and even with a Kryptonian brain upgrade it still makes my eyes cross. Does all of this mean something to me right now?".
"In the simplest terms, my scanner shows that you and Mr. Carter are natives of Earth-One, but that at some point you crossed into a different history"

Jasma found that with effort she could cause the ball enclosing her to move slightly, but that she was unable to move her own body. Attempting to turn her head didn't work, but trying to turn her whole body would move the ball in that direction. She still couldn't fly, the ball seemed stuck to the floor when she pushed up. She had briefly managed to get it to roll when trying to fly forward, but that left her a bit dizzy. Jasma really hoped Mommy or Daddy would get here. She didn't like watching this grey man walk around like he owned the place.
Out of the corner of her eye she saw a red cape zoom past. One of her parents was here.
Then she heard an unexpected voice, "I don't think Superman is going to be happy when he sees the mess you made. Maybe if you surrender quietly, I'll straighten up for you before he arrives"
Jasma knew the voice, but couldn't quite remember whose voice it was. It sounded like Megan used to, but Daddy had told her Megan was not allowed to use that voice anymore. It also sounded a little like Aunt Lesla, but it wasn't quite as deep. Besides Aunt Lesla was on Rokyn with Tantho Zor and Allura.
The Master Jailer grumbled, "I thought I had either deactivated or taken control of all you robots. Guess I somehow missed you. No matter, you are obviously a less advanced version. You look at least a decade out of date".
Jasma then saw him fly past her and collide with the Fortress wall. A second later she saw a blonde girl land in front of her.
"Let's get you out of this thing"
The girl put her hands on the sides of the bubble and squeezed until cracks appeared. Jasma stood there confused.
"I think it is easier to break into this thing than break out. Don't be ashamed i doubt your dad could have gotten loose either". the girl said.
"You look like one of my aunts", Jasma said softly, "Are you another clown?"
"Clown?", the girl responded confused.
"Yeah, Daddy says that after my first mommy died there were all these clowns made to look like her. Aunt Lesla. Aunt Megan (though she used to be Aunt Louise). There was even one that looked like a pizzaro with one of them rock faces. But don't tell Kent I said about the pizzaro cause Daddy said he was sensitive about them."
"Well, honey. I guess I'm your aunt Kara. And I'm also guessing that your mommy was Luma Lynai."
"No, my mommy was Supergirl", Jasma said proudly.
Kara looked at the girl more closely and gulped.

Well, that was an atom bomb and a half. Somebody's going to need their memories erased after this. I guess Kara was traveling through time, and stopped here. She's going to wonder why she isn't a phantom.

Wow! What a time to catch up on some reading. This time travel stuff and alternate timeline anomalies is really interesting, but I wonder how it can all be squared? By the way, I'm not sure if you've read this before, but I actually wrote something similar to the scene with Booster and Kristin trying to recall the fates of the Superman Family based on what they recalled from their future history. Except in this case it was Cosmic Boy, and it took place during the Invasion: www.5earths.com/earth-1/dcu-e1-invasion1987-03-0/TL;DR, Cosmic Boy (a history buff) visited the quiet, uneventful summer of 1987 expecting to see Lois Lane readying herself for her upcoming wedding to Clark Kent, only to discover she wasn't engaged to Clark at all, but was apparently dating some guy named Mark. (And the world's biggest alien invasion was occurring, too, something he didn't recall at all from his history books.) I always meant to follow up on this, but never got around to it. I still might, but don't plan on making any real conclusions about the timeline anomalies.

Superboy slowly rose from the hole his landing had left in the reformatory yard. He surveyed the scene.
Four of the guards were moaning loudly. The one who had been trampled was emitting a gurgling sound with each breath. The last guard was making almost no sound at all. Superboy listened closely to make sure his heart and lungs were still working. He detected the faintest heartbeat.
Superboy's landing had further weakened what remained standing of the wall surrounding the yard. Several pieces had fallen on detainees who'd been trying to flee through an opening from the first explosions. Superboy let out a chuckle that surprised him, upon seeing Peter "Fleetfoot" Maxwell with his right leg pinned beneath debris. Nearby his frequent partners in crime Henry Mackay and Earl "Owl" Richmond were similarly pinned down. Something about seeing the three boys injured felt right to Superboy. He shook his head as he he tried to focus his attention back on the entire scene.
His X-ray vision allowed him to scan the interior of the nearby building. The interior stairwell had collapsed. The guards who had been trying to hold the door to the first floor shut were recovering their footing but were otherwise unharmed. Superboy felt a mild wave of disappointment and struggled to refocus his attention. Most of the fighting on the second and third levels had stopped at least momentarily. Warden Ferguson was looking dazaed with a bit of bleeding and a bump on his forehead but otherwise unharmed.
Superboy quickly ran through possibilities in his head. Two of the guards were severely injured and getting them to medical attention topped triage list. But their injuries meany he couldn't move them at his top speed, so if he tended to them first he ran the risk of things getting worse while he was away. The building could easily collapse before he returned. Then again most of those left in the building were criminals whose lives were only in potential danger while the injured guards were in actual danger. He knew the answer should be obvious, but for some reason he couldn't determine it.
A yell for help from the 3rd floor in a familiar voice decided him.

I can tell a lot of thought went into this last chapter. It’s very well done! I can’t recall if we know which Superboy this is yet.

Kristen blinked. "Could you repeat that?"
Julia sighed. "You and Booster are not supposed to be here. But since you are it frees me up to get your assistance".
"Look, I'm a real helpful person. And your spiel has my interest, But, right now wherever I'm supposed to be is out protecting this planet and especially this planet. So, I really don't have time ..."
Julia jumped in, "Actually time is why I'm here. And the favor I'm asking will help your family out of this particular situation". Or at least that is that is the other reason I came here today".
Kristen took a breath. "Ok, if you can convince me in the next three minutes that whatever you want will solve this Luthor nonsense, I'll listen"
Booster shrugged, "She had me at 'Secret Mission", but I'm a pushover"
Julia took a deep breath and began.
"Ok. quick basics. Time is messy. That stuff Superman and his pals were involved in with the Anti-Monitor didn't help. Their attempt to clean up that made some things worse. I got sent back to keep things from falling apart."
"That makes everything clear", Booster chuckled. Kristen elbowed him and glared,
"Ok, Ms. Weisinger, now you've gone too far the other way. Let's start with just what you meant about Booster and me crossing out of history", Kristen asked.
"Well, both of you come from the future of a planet identified as Earth 1, but not the future of the same planet and unfortunately not the future of the one you are on now. That is sort of your specialty, Dr. Wells in my history which is one of the many reasons i came to you".
"So there is more than one Earth 1>", Kristen said.
"Yes. One of the original ways people tried to describe the idea for places like Earth 1 and Earth 2 was that on one world someone turned left and on the other someone turned right. But prior to the recent Crisis, before these walls went up, no one ever found two parallel earths where something as simple as a decision on which way to turn separated them.'
Kristen brightened. "And I take it that has something to do with the foxian particles and these hyper-chronons you were talking about"
Julia smiled back "Yes!!! It was discovered that foxian readings differed between physical worlds. Despite historic similarities an object from Earth 1 and Earth 2 will always have different foxian readings. No matter when in history I examine the object those readings don't change. Hyperchronon readings vary though and in someway we don't understand those changes reflect the history of the object. We can't decypher what the specific readings mean but we can detect if two objects were taken from the same date in time and after some experimentation we also found that if you altered history that the readings matched only if both objects came from the same history and date.
And while I can't determine just what caused the differences the readings say that John Michael Carter aka Booster Gold and Krsten Wells kent aka Superwoman both match for foxian purposes but not hyperchronons and neither of you are in line with the readings of any other object in this room"

Luthor muttered to himself. It had taken him almost 14 minutes to locate the flying toy that had interrupted his battle with Superman's family. And if that hadn't been humiliating enough he'd managed to lose four targets. The toy itself had outmaneuvered him and escaped into the sewers. The crone he'd managed to incapacitate had also escaped while he was distracted. Superman's wife had managed to get away as well. And Superman's daughter had dropped off his tracking scope during the battle, probably having fled to some pre-planned bunker his old foe had for just such a situation.
And the rest of his plan seemed to be in peril as well. Nasty seemed to be ignoring his messages. While she showed occasional proof of her Luthor heritage, Lex was well aware that she lacked the follow-through that battling a Kryptonian demanded. But as it was too late to call in a back-up he'd have to hope his niece would surprise him and actually damage the deceased Supergirl's image.
His monitors in Smallville showed that Operation Hometown was a mild success and his robotic time bombs seemed to have worked but he had no way of determining if Superman was even aware of any of that yet, And as best he could determine the master jailer had proved true to form, bungling the assault on Superman's Fortress. This meant another task Lex would have to see to himself, reminding him of why he'd always preferred robotic servants to human ones.
For a second Lex frowned at that last thought. He could feel some massive insight hovering just out of reach. But the Kryptonian detector flashed an alert and the moment was gone.
The scanner registered two signatures approaching from the north at a high rate of speed.

Kara had briefly considered staying with the girl at the Fortress, but she reasoned this seemed to be an emergency and regardless of the time period she was currently in she was he cousin's emergency weapon. Plus if what Jasma had told her was correct, then Kara had every right to override Kal's instructions to the girl. She loved her cousin but between the current situation and her recent encounter with the Legion she briefly felt a moment of pride at being free to operate without needing his permission.
The feeling only increased as she glanced back at the child behind her. She was going to be a mom, someday.
For her part, Jasma glanced at the girl ahead of her. The girl was silly but something about her made Jasma trust her. The girl who said her name was Linda had been worried about a pair of ducks, but Jasma had convinced her that the bald man who shot Nanny Greta was scarier than some birds. Now they were heading back to Metropolis to help. She didn't like disobeying Mommy Kristen, but Linda had said that if people were in danger that disobeying was OK. Jasma agreed with that idea.

Could you post a quick summary of what has happened so far, if that isn't too much trouble? It's been so long between updates that I'm having trouble keeping track of everything that has happened so far.
