Grammary Academy of Mystical Knowledge on Tourmaline Island was almost deserted, except for a small boy with black hair and eyes for whom getting an Aleph was more important than Halloween. Adam Thunder's dorm room was decorated strangely for a 6-year old boy in 2015, with posters of 1940s movie stars, models of World War II planes, magical apparatus, a table covered with flasks, tubes, ewers, colorful crystals and an oil lamp, a shelf of tins, phials, earthenware bottles and small leather bags.

Of course, Adam wasn't a normal 6 year old. A magical prodigy born in 1934, at 21 he'd lost a duel with a pair of evil demons, leaving him in a 60 year coma. The demons had left him with an intolerable curse: perpetual 6 year old boyhood. He hoped to learn how to lift this intolerable curse at Grammary.
Suddenly, he magically sensed two familiar evil auras; his mortal enemies, the coal-black horned demon Ahorazx and his blood red sister Lameziel had materialized nearby. This was the pair of demons who had bested him before and left him cursed.

"Uh Oh!" he thought in panic. "I'm in trouble! Better get some help this time."
Adam quickly gathered herbs and a crystal, crushed them with a mortar and pestle, and chanted while sprinkling the dust over a lamp flame. As the flame flared brightly white, there was a quiet 'bamf' of displaced air and a disheveled young woman appeared!
Melody Bannon was used to responding instantly to danger, even when snatched partially clothed from her bedroom. She instantly rubbed the mystical sapphire on her bracelet and in a blinding flash of blue light, the mystery heroine Glowgirl, the Blue Marvel, instantly replaced Melody. Adam admired her spectacular figure in her famous skin-tight navy blue and red costume, domino mask and light blue cape. He had to lift that damn curse!

"I saw your underpants!" Adam crowed like a delighted 6 year old.
"Adam Thunder, I should swat your bottom for that!" the World's Toughest Heroine said crossly. "You better have a good reason for bringing me here."
"No time for bottom swatting now!" the Young Wizard piped up. "You gotta help me against Lameziel and Ahorazx!"
"Like, who are those spooks?" the teen-aged mystery heroine asked. Adam gestured; a mystical illusion showed two demons smashing into Strabo Hall. Even through the illusion, Glowgirl sensed their powerful menacing evil. "Like, let's totally wipe the floor with them!" the Blue Marvel cried as they flew out the window.
The demons were more powerful than the humans, but the heroes had an unexpected ally. The mystical awareness of Tourmaline Island, infused with residual energy from generations of magic at Grammary Academy, rose to the defense of the heroes. As magical fire washed from the hands of the two demons, Tourmaline created a powerful wind to drive back the flames. As the flames faltered, Glowgirl bashed Lameziel with super powered punches and kicks. Adam created a giant magical fist which slammed into Ahorazx' head like a guided missile. Both demons fell to the floor; Tourmaline grew stone hands to hold them down firmly.
Lameziel screamed in anger; the stone hands exploded violently. "Brother, rescue the Ghoul! I will rend these abhorrent children until they beg for my nonexistent mercy!" She gestured and a stream of mystical daggers flew at the heroes, blocked by a screen created by Tourmaline. The heroes were delayed, allowing Ahorazx to race away down a corridor.
"Split!" Glowgirl yelled. "I'll take Ahorazx!" At super speed, the Blue Marvel crashed into Ahorazx like a living lightning bolt!
Adam encased Lameziel in a block of ice. An explosion of demonic fire freed her. Safe behind Tourmaline's screen, Thunder battered Lameziel with his most powerful spells. Flames began leaking through rents in her ghastly skin. Most demons would flee from this terrible beating, but she painfully battled on.
Ahorazx was taking an equal beating. Glowgirl pounded steadily ahead, and he too began leaking flames. Finally, he braced against a wall for his final stand. She charged, he dodged, and she shattered that wall, revealing what appeared to be a morgue. Before the Blue Marvel could recover, green light flared from the eyes of Ahorazx and washed over the mummified corpse of a ghoul, which slowly sat up.
"I couldn't have broken through that wall myself!" Ahorazx sneered. Demon and ghoul vanished. At exactly the same instant, Lameziel roared in wordless triumph and vanished as well.
"We beat the CRAP out of them!" Adam crowed triumphantly as Glowgirl rejoined him. "But why were they rescuing a ghoul in the first place?" He sounded bewildered.
Glowgirl chuckled. "Why, Adam, surely you know…" and she paused dramatically "…that demons are a ghoul's best friend!"
