give them their own section. Just because some don't have origins is no reason not to index the others. If such a book existed, I would probably buy it, refer to it often, and put it on the shelf next to the 'regrettable' series, which I don't regret buying. btw. I wonder if a book that gives a half page recap of the origins of copyrighted heroes would violate the copyright, or would it be 'fair use'?
