It's 1944 on Earth-Two. Georg Von Tregor (Horned Owl), now working for the Allies after his defection from Nazi Germany, and his Victory Legion comrade, fighter pilot Midnight Angel (Rosalie Ashley) have been instructed to find out what happened to several Jewish refugees who didn't make it out of Paris on the way to sanctuary from Nazi depravity. And as with my earlier Horned Owl and Fledermaus stories, this one is taken from real life here on our world. As you can see from the link here, the murderous Dr Marcel Petiot did exist. Things happened slightly differently on Earth-Two, but sadly, in some ways, not differently enough. Reference: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marcel_Petiot

Thanks, Dan. As with my earlier Horned Owl and Fledermaus stories which delved into how the German crimefighters in question might have used their forensic detective expertise to track down and apprehend serial killers within Germany and Austria, this one dealt with much the same contingency. However, this one had to deal with Horned Owl after he lost Fledermaus and defected to the Allies, joined the Victory Legion and started to fall in love with Midnight Angel /Rosalie Ashley, his red-haired female fighter pilot comrade in arms.
After all, Earth-Two is a parallel world to our own and one that strongly resembles our own. While there are obvious differences, such as an earlier end to South African apartheid and Quebecois independence from Canada, it's also parallel enough to have significant historical figures that are virtually identical to our own. All of my Horned Owl stories deal with Earth-Two equivalents of serial killers in our own world because if Horned Owl was Nazi Germany's "Batman" and he was a crimefighter, naturally such cases would have attracted his interest. His sense of duty would mean he felt a moral obligation to apprehend them.
