Does anyone know when Brainiac 5's force field belt was introduced?

It was introduced in Brainiac 5's first appearance. The force-field belt was explained to be an improved version of the original Brainiac's force-field belt, which was also introduced in his "ancestor" Brainiac's first appearance.
