Right. I've decided to provide some backdrop alternate histories that we can set the DC heroes of our choice in:
Earth-210: On this Earth, the Nazis won a prolonged Second World because Great Britain never appointed Neville Chamberlain as its Prime Minister and its appeasement movement was far weaker. Unfortunately, Churchill's anticommunism prevented him from assisting the Soviet Union, which was pushed back to the Ural range. The Nazis took Moscow but stopped expanding at that point. Churchill chose not to act as guarantor of Poland and Czechoslovakia, but he did build up Britain's armed forces despite keeping out of the Second World War. In 1946, the United States invaded Japan at the cost of one million soldiers. Because it didn't develop nuclear weapons until 1948, the United States dropped seven atomic bombs on Japan, decimating much of its population. The Nazi superstate lasted until Hitler's death in 1962, but Bormann and Goering had long since taken control of the Third Reich. At that point, it finally collapsed due to interneccine strife.
Suggested characters: The Justice Society, the All-Star Squadron, wartime Charlton and other companies characters. Perhaps also Nazi and Soviet metahumans?
Earth-300: Barry Goldwater won the US presidential election in 1964. While he didn't nuke Hanoi, he did send more troops in there, and invade North Vietnam, with disastrous consequences as the advance got bogged down and as the Vietcong steadily gained ascendancy in a long and gruelling war. Added to which, he seriously mishandled the question of civil rights as well, backing white Southern states, with disastrous consequences within his country itself. While he was heavily defeated and replaced by RFK in 1968, the damage was done.
Suggested characters: The Justice League... but this isn't the optimistic Camelot era of Kennedy era prosperity, remember. And how does Goldwater respond to the emergence of metahuman villains?
Earth-418: Here, Ronald Reagan became president in 1976, with the same foreign policy debacles that beset Jimmy Carter OTL. Central America erupts in flames after Reagan intervenes in El Salvador, and he also severely miscalculates over Iran. Beset with surging inflation and unemployment, he loses the 1980 election against Ted Kennedy (there was no Chappaquiddick here).
Suggested characters: Justice League and Teen Titans. What effects do events have on the ensembles of both teams?
Earth-719: This world diverged from the datum in 1931, when the Great Depression was more devastating than it was in OTL. Instead of FDR and the New Deal in 1933, the Golden Order launched a coup d'etat and established a technocratic dictatorship. The United States ceased to exist, and the Golden Order regime went on to take over Western Europe and then launched Earth-719's Second Global Conflict with a weakened SovUnion in 1938. With its upper echelon military devastated by Stalin's purges, the SovUnion fell quickly. GC2 was over by 1941. Since then, the Golden Order has banned religion, concerts and the consumption of alcohol. Eugenics are commonplace, although not utilised against ethnic minorities.
Suggested characters: Superman is a loyal servant of the regime. Ironically, the current High Technocrat is Lex Luthor. Bruce Wayne is on the Science Council, as are Ray Palmer, John Henry and Natasha Irons and Barry Allen. Diana of Themiscyra evacuated the Amazons from Earth to Minerva, an Earth-analogue world around Epsilon Eridani when she witnessed the events of the 1930s here. Earth-719 has fought one interstellar war against the Thanagarian Empire already.
