I'm back to working on the 'replace the JSA with Public Domain heroes' story again. Here are the heroes Johnny Thunder brought to life from Golden Age comic books. I'm thinking of having them split into 4 teams to fight four villains or groups of villains (3 teams of 2 with 1 hero going solo, and Johnny getting left out)...
The Owl Cosmo Mann Silver Streak Master Mystic Lady Fairplay Nightro the Press Guardian
Who should the other teams be, and what kind of villains should each team fight? And which hero should go solo?
Once the teams and the general 'kinds of villains' they are going to fight are figured out, I'll start searching for specific Golden Age Public Domain villains to fill each role.
Thanks for your suggestions!

How about -The Owl and Nightro -Cosmo Mann and Silver Streak -Lady Fairplay and Press Guardian + Master Mystic on his own As for the categories of villains -enhanced technology themed villains for Owl and Nightro -scientific villains for Cosmo Mann and Silver Streak -a darkmage for Master Mystic -a combat proficient villain for Lady Fairplay and Press Guardian As for the villains themselves: -Pantherman: Crimelord, opponent of the Owl: pdsh.fandom.com/wiki/Pantherman_(Dell)-The only recorded enemies for Nightro were an anonymous group of criminals called the Suicide Circle. -Cosmo Mann's principal enemy is the Nazi operative Commander Darke, who wears an iron mask reminiscent of the Golden Age Sandman. -Silver Streak had an inhuman-faced, possibly alien nemesis called The Claw, as well as an Asian opponent called The Green Dragon. -The obvious foe for Master Mystic would be Rango. However, if you want some variety, try Zarbu the Sorceror -The Press Guardian and Lady Fairplay had no permanent rogues galleries. However... Leonore Black (could metamorphose into a giant spider) -Master Archer (MLJ), specifically against Press Guardian -

So, Lady Fairplay and the Press Guardian are zapped _somewhere_ by the T-Bolt, along with her Terrificar. They end up in the square outside of Constitution Hall. There is a Farmer's Market taking place in the square. They face a three-pronged threat... 1. a very large, extremely strong man, with short hair under a blue flat cap, his mouth outlined by an unusually-trimmed black beard. His neck is thicker than his head, and his arms are twice as thick as his neck. He's wearing a black, short-sleeved t-shirt with button-up collar, yellow-brown pants and combat boots. His chest is huge, and he has a pot belly. He encounters a group of sailors who are touring Constitution Hall in casual white uniforms, and attacks them in a rage. One sailor races toward a street vendor's vegetable cart; the big guy destroys the cart. When the big guy encounters the heroes, he shyly makes a pass at Lady Fairplay, and showers her with clumsy complements. When she isn't interested he begins a rampage of destruction. But he can't quite bring himself to hit a woman, so he tries to come up with some way to trick her. His voice is deep and he mutters under his breath a lot. 2. A gangster dressed in a sharp white suit wearing a black porkpie hat and expensive brown leather spats. His head is made of grey Grand Canyon granite, harder than steel. His face is craggy with recessed eyes and a square jaw. He uses his head as a weapon, for head butts and as a battering ram. He mistakes the Press Guardian for a plain-clothes police detective and his words show a particular hatred for police detectives (he calls them 'dicks'). He is quite ruthless. 3. A group of gangsters dressed in trench coats and fedoras. They are initially driving a big sedan and they toss a bomb (the kind shaped like a bowling ball with a fuse sticking out). When they get out of the sedan, they attempt to launch a torpedo-like rocket using a dynamite plunger (the box with the t-shaped handle sticking out the top) to destroy some famous building, and then when they attempt to escape they use a very sleek rocket-plane they call the Atom Express. They are particularly worried about volts and magnetism. The stone-faced gangster may be the leader of the Atom Express gang.
Anyone recognize the villains? Anyone want to write this chapter?
