Do we have any idea about the geography of Grim Island, the island in the South Pacific which touches several of the 5 Earths but is not really part of any of them, where the Grimoire Academy is located? Doc gave it a backstory in Magic and Demons and Ghouls, Oh My! We know these things about it:
- It is the location of Grimoire Academy of Applied Knowledge, and is a unique island accessible by five different Earths.
- Grim Island is secluded in the South Pacific and surrounded by a magical protective barrier looking like a fog bank, which not only shields the island from discovery by the outside world, but also prevents magical arrivals or departures, such as by flying or teleportation.
- Although Grim Island had only come into existence relatively recently, in 1948, and the Grimoire Academy was officially founded in 1951, both the island and the academy were paradoxically extremely ancient. The island is an incarnation of the isle of Tourmaline
- Tourmaline was the home of an ancient school of magic. the 'White School' founded by the Homo Magi species on the several earths which touched Tourmaline.
- Tourmaline and the White School were destroyed in World War II, and mystically, they are linked with Grim Island and Grimoire Academy
My feeling is that being in the South Seas, Grimoire Island has great beaches. I'm wondering if, based on its recent rebirth, it might be a very big island, with a good variety of geography, much of it still unexplored, maybe some mountains in the center of the island, maybe an almost impassible jungle, some dinosaurs, a section of desert, etc...
What do you guys think? I may have an idea for some stories set there, once I get Alex, Carol, Joanna and Atom back to their own worlds...
